Recital Ready & Summer Magic for Little Dancers

The countdown is officially on—recital week is here! Whether it’s your dancer’s first time on stage or their tenth, recital week is always a whirlwind of excitement, nerves, sparkles, and celebration. Last year, we shared our top tips for preparing for recital week, and this June, we’re recapping that essential advice—with a few extra reminders to make sure this year runs smoothly for your dancer and your family.

💃 Let’s Talk Recital Prep

The week of recital can feel like a marathon—but it doesn’t have to. Here’s your go-to checklist to help your dancer shine without the stress:

✅ The Week Of: Things to Do

  • Check Your Emails: We’ll be sending reminders, updates, and instructions via email all week. Make sure you’ve read everything and ask questions early.

  • Label Everything: Shoes, tights, costumes, accessories—if it’s coming to the studio or theater, label it. Trust us, it’ll save you so much headache.

  • Practice Hair & Makeup: Do a test run early in the week so you know exactly how long it takes (and so your dancer isn’t surprised on show day).

  • Pack the Bag Early: Don’t wait until the night before. Make a list and double check it! Tights? Extra pair of tights? Shoes? Snacks? Water bottle? Safety pins? Hair spray? You get the idea.

❌ Top Things Not to Forget

  • Double Check Costume Pieces: Especially shoes and any small accessories.

  • The Right Undergarments: Non ripped tights, bra straps that won’t show—make sure your dancer has what they need to feel confident.

  • Snacks & Water: Hungry dancers = cranky dancers. Pack easy-to-eat, healthy mess-free snacks and plenty of water.

  • Dance Shoes are NOT for Outside: Keep them clean by changing into them inside the building only.

  • Keep Calm & Encourage Confidence: Your dancer will take their cue from you. Stay calm, cheerful, and supportive—no matter what happens!

Recital week is a celebration of a whole season of hard work, friendship, and growth. Help your dancer feel prepared so they can focus on the fun!

✨ Mini Summer Magic for New (and Little) Dancers

After the recital, things don’t slow down completely—we’ve got something special for our youngest dancers this summer! Our Magical Mini Summer Sessions are perfect for dancers ages 10 months through 7th grade who want to keep moving, but without a big summer commitment.

These once-a-week sessions are the ideal way to:

  • Try dance for the first time in a low-pressure environment

  • Keep a consistent routine through the summer months

  • Let your child experience the fun and creativity of movement and music

It’s the perfect introduction for little ones who might be curious about dance—or a great way for current students to stay connected between seasons.

🎉 Know someone with a little one at home? Share this blog with a friend, neighbor, or fellow parent! Summer dance is better with friends, and our Magical Mini Sessions are designed to build confidence, friendships, and joy in every class. Ready to sign up?
